Well, Christmas and the whirlwind has passed. I finished the semester teaching two classes, (remind me not to do that again, EVER). New Year's looms and the dreaded resolutions await. I want to make some reasonable ones this time, in hopes of actually being able to keep them. Here is what I've come up with so far:
1. Take time to experience my life instead of just letting it whiz on by
2. Make better decisions about taking care of myself physically (sleeping, eating, exercising, and
not doing counterproductive things)
3. Pay attention to the energy I am cultivating in myself through my thoughts, words, actions, decisions, and interactions with others and to the energy I get from others.
4. Move negative people in my life to the balcony (see this interesting post, quite thought provoking: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/romi-lassally/make-new-friends-but-kee_b_37203.html) I don't need to be put down, criticized, belittled, punished, or otherwise emotionally battered by anyone.
P.S. you can find many more inspiring posts on Ariana Huffington's blogsite section titled Fearless Voices: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/becoming-fearless/
5. Focus more on what can be done than on what isn't going right.
6. Make sure to make time for the people in my life who care about me- my priorities need some re-aligning.
Yes, those are a little more vague than "lose twenty pounds", but the represent changes I want to cultivate in myself. Another thing I want to explore this year is a meditation practice called Naikan, you can check it out here: http://www.todoinstitute.org/naikan.html.
I'll keep you all posted on my progress. I'd love to hear your thoughts, resolutions, etc. I think New Year's Eve this year Leigh and I may just stay home, maybe a couple of friends and/or Jason and Sara may join us but maybe not. Sounds kinda nice to me, does this mean I'm officially middle aged? :-) Hope yours is safe and happy.

How cool are we?
Ok, DP, I have figured this out. This is really cool! Angie, I am hoping to go to KK's party. My prosecutor's party is the same night, and I pretty much only party with them once a year now, so I hate to miss it. Maybe I can squeeze in both!
Talk to ya'll soon! Tell Leigh welcome back.

Welcome!
Ahhh, so glad to see you joining us, Angie!
I have lots of stuff I want to write, just thoughts and stuff... I'm watching The Daily Show right now and it's just getting so absurd out there. I've also been reading one of the texts from my social work class, and it's about logic... I have to try to explain the fundamentals of logical arguments to my class tomorrow night- Wheeeeee!
I need to alert the Cowgirls as well, Cabana Boy Leigh is now once again a Texas resident! He gave up the apartment in Chicago and he's settling back into the routines. We are bracing for the expected major winter storm that's supposed to be coming. I bought a 'pop up' green house to try to protect my plants, I also put a small heater in it, we'll see if it works.... Hope you are all warm and dry. And let's keep Janice in our thoughts, things are not good with her father (and also Dick's dad, as I understand). Our thoughts are with her now. Some of us have experienced the loss of a parent, some haven't (including me), I can't even imagine how tough it will be.
I love you all! dp

Book Club
SB's Idea of a book club sounds like fun. Anyone reading anything cool right now? I'm reading Barak Obama's The Audacity of Hope... takers?
Introduction
An Experimental Blog, specifically for musings of the TVSA Cowgirls.... We can post pictures, random deep thoughts, or day to day happenings.
Maybe I'll have some deep thoughts soon! I thought it might be worth a shot.
